A small Veteran business has talented people on their books with specialist skills but they can only place them in Defence roles through MSPs and the “Big 4” consultancies (‘primes’).
The primes know they are the gatekeepers to the work. The Veteran business shares the details of their best candidate for a role they are ideally suited for one of the primes. The prime actively undermines the Veteran business by poaching the individual via a third-party recruiter, with no recourse.
OUTCOME
The Commonwealth gets the same candidate but at a greater cost.
They believe by using a bigger firm they have reduced risk but have simply paid more for the same person.
